Citizenship and immigration Canada have
opened federal skilled trades program recently. In 2013, the citizenship and
immigration Canada (CIC) may process 3,000 applications. This is helpful for
people who fall cracks of the CEC (Canada Experience Class) and FSWP (Federal
Skilled Worker Program). The applicants must meet a few requirements to
get eligible for the program.
The requirements are as listed below:
·
The applicant should have at least 24 months of
experience in any of the trade related to the occupation list during the 5 year
duration before their application. There are 43 trades designated by CIC, to
get eligible for the program. If the occupation is not relating, the application
will get rejected. Hence, applicants need to check the government CIC website
to clarify whether the quota is there for the occupation before going to start
the application proces
·
Applicant has to be a full-time employee in
Canada from up to two companies (or employers) on the whole for a period of one
year in the skilled trade. Full-time in Canada is 30 hours per week, the
applicant need to have an offer of 15 hours each from two employers per week.
This requirement is because; most Federal Skilled Trade Program holders must
obtain a job offer from companies who got positive Labor Market Opinions from
Canada Human Resources and Skills Development (Canada Service). Instead,
candidates do not need a job offer if the person possesses a qualification
certificate from a territorial or provincial apprenticeship authority
·
As described by the service Canada, the
applicant must satisfy the requirements of employment of the skilled trade by
NOC (National Occupational Classification) system
· It is obligatory for candidates to exceed or
meet minimum language thresholds. The language requirements for FSTP are highly
lesser than that of FSWP and slightly lesser than the CEC. Presently, the
applicants of FSTP must achieve CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) Listening and
Speaking 4, Writing and Reading CLB 5. For people who are taking IELTS,
Listening 5, Speaking 5, Reading 3.5 and Writing 4
·
To finish with the requirements the candidate
must plan to stay outside of Quebec
For whom this program is?
At a quick look, one may wonder about the benefits of FSTP.
All the occupations that are eligible for the trade program are also eligible
for the CEC. As CIC has reduced the requirement employment experience to one
from two, won’t many people who are suitable for the FSTP also be suitable for
the CEC, and no trouble about quotas and caps.
Added, if the person has an employment offer from an
employer of Canada that qualifies for the FSTP program, then they can also have
arranged employment, under which they can qualify for skilled
worker program.
